ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The Immaculate Conception Alumni Association has members currently in our parish and all over the United States.  Members are involved with the IC Parish Festival, fundraising efforts for the school and keep in touch through the alumni newsletter which is issued twice a year. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

The purpose of the Immaculate Conception School Athletic Association is to provide opportunities for students to participate in organized interscholastic and intramural sports. BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE

The Bereavement Ministry is the way we reach out as a parish to give solace and comfort to those who feel the grief of losing a loved one. Bereavement ministers visit the home of the bereaved offering assistance in preparing for the funeral liturgy. (Fr.Tony, 252-9919)

BIBLE STUDY

We study different books of the Bible of  our choosing, utilizing the Little Rock Scripture Study materials.  All members of the group need not be Catholic, but right now, we are all Catholic and members of IC.  (Charlotte Flohre, 252-9919)

BLOOD BANK

I. C. Parish is a member of the Community Blood Bank donor program. The mobile unit comes to the parish once a month to accept donations from our parishioners. Contributions may also be credited to the parish when donating blood at the community center downtown. (Rectory, 252-9919)

CURSILLO

Cursillo is a movement of the church. Its purpose is to help those in the church understand their individual callings to be Christian Leaders. The leadership may be exercised in work situations, in the family and social life, in leisure activities, and within the Church environment. Leadership, in Cursillo, does not mean power over others, but influence on others; all of us need to be aware that we can exert a positive influence on those around us. (Mark Sherman, 253-0338)

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

FESTIVAL

The Festival is an annual three-day event during the month of August. Although it also acts as a social, it is held primarily to bring in necessary income. Many volunteers are needed to make it a successful event. (Cindy Reaster, 256-5767 or Rectory 252-9919)

FOOD CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Immaculate Conception sells certificates as a fundraiser for the parish.  Dot's Grocery Certificates, Kroger cards, Meijer Reward Cards, and Sherwin-Williams reward cards are all available.  The program also offers gas cards and gift cards to restaurants and other forms of entertainment.  The percentage that the parish recieves varies from 4% to as high as 12% through the Script Program.  Order forms are available after Mass in the main vestibule, in the rectory, and in the school office. FOOD FOR THE HOMELESS

Each month parishioners sign up to provide casseroles, vegetables, or cookies for the homeless who stay at the St. Vincent De Paul Hotel. Cash donations are also accepted. (Carmelita Duckro, 252-8448)

This group for those fifty or over meets each month. Many various activities are planned throughout the year. They also serve the parish through the Free Spirits Funeral Choir. (Alice Schulte, 293-8773)

GIRL SCOUTS

Girls kindergarten age start out in the Daisy program and
progress with their troop to become Girl Scouts, earning badges and try-its,
participating in community service projects, experience camping and making

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

The local council of the Catholic men's organization over 120 years old, dedicated to the ideals of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.  Meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7 pm, the ladies' auxiliary meets the 3rd Wednesday at 7 pm.  The K of C also hosts a monthly dinner after the 5 pm Saturday Mass on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  Contact Alan Mescher, 312-1631, Robert Miller, 689-9398.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION

Engaged couples are encouraged to contact the church office as soon as they begin plans for their marriage, at least six months in advance. No date should be set or reception hall reserved until the couple has met with the presider of their wedding and their freedom to marry has been confirmed. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

The purpose of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is to give emergency aid to people who, for some reason such as sudden unemployment or continued low income, have a hard time keeping up with food, medicine and heating bills.
